Workshop
Digital Tools to Improve Your Newsroom (For Free!)
Featuring: Ren La Forme, Poynter Institute
There are hundreds (if not thousands) of digital tools that can augment your skills and let you tell stories, engage with audiences and communicate in new and more effective ways. In this two-hour workshop, Ren La Forme leads the way through free, easy-to-implement tools that you and your team can start using right away, along with strategies on how to make these tools "stick" in your newsroom.

About the presenters:

Amy Guth, host of talk radio at WGN, is president of the Association for Women Journalists Chicago and serves as a mentor-editor and senior facilitator at The Op-Ed Project's Public Voices Fellowship. She founded and is executive director of Strangewaze and co-founder of the Yak Channel podcast network. Previously, Guth was general manager and publisher at RedEye and Metromix at the Chicago Tribune, and managed social media and SEO at the Trib, where she authored a social media column and co-hosted the "30-second social" instructional series.

Ren La Forme is the digital tools reporter for Poynter.org at The Poynter Institute, and runs "Try This! Tools for Journalism," an effort to find, share and provide training around the best journalism tools, powered by Google News Lab and sponsored by the Knight Foundation and the American Press Institute. He frequently goes by his vanity title at Poynter: Executive Director of Awesome.
